Online Backup Software Company Announces Activation of Hurricane Ivan Hot Site, Reminds of General Threats to Data Safety
Remote Backup Systems, Inc. again makes their extensive data center resources available to their licensees in Hurricane-plagued SouthEastern U.S.
Memphis, TN September 12, 2004 -- Remote Backup Systems, Inc., manufacturer and distributor of RBackup online backup software on the web at http://remote-backup.com, today announced the activation of its emergency backup Hot Site for use by its Service Providers in the path of Hurricane Ivan. This immediately makes backup resources available for online backup service providers in coastal and outlying Florida, as well as other areas to be affected by the storm.
Hurricane Ivan is projected to make landfall in Jamaica sometime Friday night, and then to continue his westward march through the Cayman Islands and Cuba, arriving the Florida Keys by Monday afternoon. As of this writing Ivan is classified a Category 4 storm with sustained maximum wind velocities of 144 mph and gusts to 180 mph.
Remote Backup Systems has activated this service for their licensees dating back to Hurricane Hugo in 1989, and is the only company in the backup software business that extends this service to their clients.
While the Hurricane situation in the Southeast is truly unfortunate, with three major storms in as many weeks, commented Tommy Gardner, Remote Backup Systems Licensee Support Division Coordinator, RBS would also like to remind the general community that Hurricanes are only one of many ongoing threats to the safety and availability of their business data.
RBS encourages all of its online data backup centers in threatened areas to visit the companys website at http://remote-backup.com/storm.htm immediately for more information about the Hot Site service, including guidelines and instructions on activation.
